平和をいつまでも/Peace Forever

小松菜/mustard greens

(日本語は後に続く）One of this evening’s side dishes was komatsuna (mustard greens) with Japanese age (fried age) and American peanut butter and Japanese soysauce. Today, August 6, is a day to remember the sadness that occured 75 years ago in Hiroshima and to pray for peace. I feel that if two countries that were enemies could learn to be friends to the extent that I can combine American flavors with Japanese flovors, then any one in the world should be able to become friends if we learn to treat each other with respect, honesty  and kindness. I pray that eventually we will all have peace and prosperity forever.

今夜のおかずの一つは小松菜、日本のあげ、アメリカのピーナツバターと日本のお醬油のあえものでした。今日は8月6日、75年前の広島の悲しみを思い出し、平和を祈る日です。同じ一品の料理にアメリカの味と日本の味を合わせることが出来るぐらい敵同士だった二つの国が仲良くなれたということはお互いを尊重し、親切に出来るようになり、誠実であれば世界中のどなたでも友達になれるはず。皆がやがて永遠に平和になり繁栄することを祈ります。
