おはよう！/Good morning!
（日本語は後に続く）Many years ago, when I used to greet my dad with, "Good morning!"he would often respond with,"It is a good morning, now that you mention it." That helped me to realize two things, the first was what a nice greeting,"Good morning!" is. The second is that whether or not something is good depends partly on where our focus is. I am reminded of the quotation by Fredrick Langbridge in 1896,"Two men look out through the same bars;One sees the mud and one sees the stars."
何年も昔、父に「Good morning!」と挨拶すると、「そう言われてみれば、いい朝だね。」と言う返事が返ってきた。そのことで二つの事に気が付いた。一つ目は「Good morning!っていい挨拶だね。」ということ。二つ目は、「物事の善し悪しは一部どこに焦点を当てるかにもよるね。」ということ。1896年のフレッドリック・ラングブリッジの言葉を思い出す:「二人の男は同じ柵の外を見つめている；一人は泥を見ている、そしてもう一人は星を見ている。」
