お雑煮・あけましておめでとうございます/Happy New Year・Ozouni
お雑煮
（日本語は後に続く）Happy New Year, everyone! This is a photo of traditional Japanese New Year's soup called, "ozouni." Ozouni differs greatly between regions and even by households! At our house, we use instant matsutake mushroom osuimono (soup) by Nagatanien as the base and mochi (pounded rice cake) which we toast in our oven toaster. It puffs up in the toaster, so it is hot, soft and chewy on the inside and toasty on the outside...perfect for a cold winter morning! This year, I served it with kamaboko (steamed fish paste), hanafu( a flower shaped breadlike food made of wheat ) and snowpeas. Served along with other traditional New Year's foods, it is a pleasant way to start the first day of the new year. What will this new year bring? 皆様、あけましておめでとうございます！この写真は「お雑煮」と言う日本のお正月に食べる伝統的な汁物です。お雑煮はかなり様々な地域差があり、家庭によっても色々です。我が家ではベースに永谷園の松茸味お吸い物を使いオーブントースターで焼いた餅を入れます。お餅はトースターの中で膨らむので中は熱く、柔らかく，モチモチしていて、外はホクホク香ばしい、、、寒い冬の朝にピッタリ！今年はかまぼこ，花麩、と莢豌豆で出しました。おせち料理に添えると心地よい新年のスタートです。この新年は何をもたらすのでしょう。皆様に健康、沢山の喜びと多くの恵みがありますようお祈りしています。さらに明るい兆しを願って「青い鳥の訪れ」という曲のリンクを付けます。楽しんでいただければ幸いです！

今年のクリスマスクッキー/This year's Christmas Cookies
クリスマス クッキー
（日本語は後に続く）I started my Christmas cooking early this year in that I already made cookies and we already ate them! I kept them somewhat healthful in that instead of using icing, I kneaded matcha powder into some of the dough and used seed mix for decorations. The seed mix contained almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and wolfberries. I thought that using wolfberries would be pretty because of their red color, but in the oven they became brown and a little bit bitter, so I am not sure that I would recommend it. Oh, well... In general they were still rather tasty and went well with coffee! How was your year, dear readers? In spite of the pandemic, I hope it turned out better than my Christmas cookies :D. As for me, I am grateful to say that my work started picking up again from Autumn and the extra days I had spent staying at home were a good chance to remember gratitude for time spent with family. The exciting thing for me is that my newest e-book, "Ellie the Tree Fairy," is now available on Kindle from Amazon. I hope that 2021will be full of blessings for everyone.

今年はクリスマス料理を少し早めに開始しようと思い、早くもクッキーを作って既に皆で食べました！今年は健康的なのクッキーにしようと思い粉砂糖のアイシングを辞めて、一部の生地に抹茶パウダーを練りこみ、シードミックスを飾りました。シードミクスはアーモンド、カボチャの種とクコの実。クコの実の赤い色はきっと綺麗かと思ったらオーブンで茶色くなり、すこし苦味があったためあまりお勧めできない感じですがそれでも、、、、何となく美味しかったしコーヒーとの相性も良かったです。皆様の今年一年間はいかがでしたか？私のクリスマスクッキーよりはうまくいきましたか？（笑）そう願います。私の場合はお陰様で秋ぐらいから再び仕事が順調になり、家にステイ ホームしていた時期は家族と時間を過ごせる事への感謝を吟味できました。ワクワクすることと言えば私の電子絵本,Ellie the Tree Fairy (樹の妖精、エリー）は今アマゾンのキンドルで発売中に になっていることです。皆様にとって２０２１年が恵の多い年でありますように。どうぞ良い年末年始をお迎えください❣

オープンサンド/ Open Faced Sandwich
A fancy looking but actually easy lunch to make is an open faced sandwich. For this one, I cooked thinly sliced beef and a whole packet of maiteke mushroom with a sprinkle of salt and added mirin, soysauce and a drizzle of komi worcestershire type sauce. When it was finished cooking, I put it on bread and topped it with baby leaves and raddish sprouts. How does one eat such a sandwich? With a knife and fork. 見た目がゴージャスでも実は簡単なお昼ご飯はオープンサンド。これを作るのに軽く塩を振りかけた牛肉の細切れとマイタケを一パック炒めてみりん、醤油、コーミソースを好みの分量をたらして、十分に火が通ったらパンに載せ、ベビーリーフとカイワレでトッピングしました。このようなサンドウィッチはどうやって食べるでしょう？ナイフとフォークです。

普通のオムライス・Regular Rice Omelette
(日本語は後に続く）This is just a regular rice omlette for lunch with plenty of onion and sausage. It is sprinkled with parsely. Of course, the main seasonings are ketchup, pepper and garlic powder, but the secret seasonings are truffle salt and nutmeg! Even regular things can be fun and make us happy on peaceful days.
これはたっぷり玉ねぎとソーセージ入りの普通のお昼のオムライス。ぱーせりがまぶしてあります。もちろんメインの味付けはケチャップ、胡椒とガーリックパウダーだけど秘密の調味料はトリュフ塩とナツメグ。平和な一日では普通の事でも楽しく幸せに感じます。

そくゆセラピー体験/Sokuyu Therapy Experience
(日本語は後に続く）These days I have been lucky to experience Sokuyu therapy because my husband has been studying it with a very good teacher. I am glad that my husband practices on me! He uses his feet to massage my whole body. My shoulder aches and back pain have gone. I have been feeling lighter and housework has been more fun as a result. I am feeling, "on the top of the world."
この頃、幸運にもそくゆ（足癒）セラピーを体験できています。なぜなら主人が良い先生のもとで習っているからです。主人が私を練習台にしてくれるから嬉しい！足を使って全身をマッサージしてくれます。肩こりや腰痛は無くなった。体が軽くなったおかげで家事が楽しくなった。「トップ・オブ・ザ・ワールド」見たいな良い気分です。

秋の兆し/ An indication of Autumn
（日本語は後に続く）One indication of Autumn, is that I have been enjoying cooking things in our big old gas oven again! In this picture is a simple dish of egg plant mixed with meat sauce seasoned with salt, pepper, nutmeg and garlic topped with cheese. The dish on the right is chicken on a bed of thinly sliced onions and flanked by mashed potatoes. The seasonings (other than salt and pepper) are a drizle of soy sauce on the chicken, rosemary and parsely.
I am grateful to be able to enjoy the seasons and grateful for time with family.
秋の兆しの一つはまた家の大きな、古いガス・オーブンで料理をするのが楽しくなったこと！写真に写っているのは那須と塩、胡椒、ナツメグとニンニクで味付けしたミートソースを混ぜたものでチーズが乗っているシンプルなものです。右側の料理は薄くスライスした玉ねぎに鶏肉を乗せたもので、両脇にマッシュポテト。（塩コショウ以外の）
味付けはお醬油一たらし、ローズマリーとパセリ。
季節を楽しめる事と家族と過ごせる事に感謝しています。

白いユリ/White Lily
(日本語は後に続く）We don't own a car, but my husband belongs to a car share program, so once a month he rents a car and we go on an outing. I always enjoy it even if it is just to get groceries and eat our favorite ramen. The other day was especially nice because we drove around the hilly country side and visited a shrine and an observation deck. I was impressed by the white lilies growing straight and blooming here and there among the weeds.
Right now we are in the midst of a pandemic, so it is easy to complain about politics, the economy and other things that aren't working. But I hope we can count our blessings, smile and do our best. Are we going to make excuses? Or are we going to grow straight and blossom brightly like the lilies in the weeds?
私達は車を所有していないが、主人はカー・シェアに入っているため、月に一回は車を借りて一緒にお出かけをします。お買い物をして大好きなラーメンを食べるだけでもいつも楽しいです。先日は田舎の山道にドライブをして神社と展望台を訪れたから特に素敵でした。あっちこっちの雑草の中でまっすぐ伸びて咲いている白いユリに感銘を受けました。
今はパンデミック中において、政治、経済や上手く機能しないことに関して文句を言うのは簡単です。しかし恵（感謝できる事）を数えて、笑って、ベストを尽せることいいね、とおもいます。私達は言い訳をしますか？それともまっすぐ伸びて明るく花を咲かせますか？雑草の中のユリのように。
